Keeping Your Site Alive And Active

One of the toughest tasks when starting your site is keeping it alive during the beginning stages of it.

I have learned some useful tips that will help you when trying to keep your own site alive.

  • Try to always have some kind of activity on the site. Also try to keep introducing new features to the user base. This usually gives the impression you are dedicated and know where you want your web site to go.
  • Send out a monthly or weekly newsletter. Some members may forget about your site or are not interested. When sending out the newsletter inform them of new features the stats of your web site and the latest contests. Most of the time this will get them interested and they will visit your site to see the new features.
  • Have Contests. If you market your contests right they will get your users to participate get you more traffic and more members.
  • Try to constantly promote your site. When I say constantly I mean everywhere you can place your link for free PLACE IT. When promoting your site you want to grab someone’s attention and get them to visit your site.
  • Update your site daily. If you are running a forum you should constantly post new topics. Try to get conversations started amongst your users. If you are running a blog try to update it daily with unique content.
  • Paid Advertising. If you have enough money you could use Google Adwords to advertise your web site. You could also advertise with your banner on an active web site.

Be consistent at those points and you should be fine.

China will record a GDP growth of 10.2 percent in the third quarter roughly the same as the secondquarter level according to a report released on Friday by the State Information Center a government think tank.

The report predicted the consumer price index CPI a barometer of inflation would rise by 6.6 percent for the third quarter.

Prices of agricultural products would continue to fall which would contribute to the stabilization of the CPI.

Some observers believed that the pressure from the rising producer price index PPI which gauge exfactory prices and influences CPI might be a concern but even taking into consideration its impact consumer inflation might no longer exceed the February peak a 12yearhigh of 8.7 percent in the coming months and the first half of next year.

The report said reconstruction in disaster affected areas would add to demand for investment and spending on energy efficiency would become a new focal point.

It predicted fixedasset investment nationwide would reach 4.77trillion yuan 695.1 billion U.S. dollars in the third quarter agrowth of 27.6 percent over the same period last year. The growth rate would be 1.3 percentage points higher than the first half.

The report said consumption would continue to be a major driving force for the national economy. However auto and home purchases ebbed notably in the first half adversely affecting consumption in the third quarter.

It forecast retail sales at 2.61 trillion yuan nationwide in the third quarter up 20 percent. The growth rate would be 1.4 percentage points lower than the firsthalf level.

High Demand Low Demand

The classic retail ruleofthumb sell products with high demand and low competition makes you think that products simply fall into two generalized categories: “High demand products” and “Low demand products”.

It makes you think that high demand products are the only products worth selling and when comparing demand numbers the obvious choice would be to pick the product that yields the highest countbut thats not true by a country mile in the world of online selling.

Consider this table of product research results:

Folding Chair = 17000 search count

Garden Gnome = 8500 search count

In the example above if you pick a product based on the highest demand you would determine that folding chairs are high demand products and garden gnomes are low demand productstherefore garden gnomes would be bad products to sell and folding chairs would be good products to sell.

Now consider this table of research results:

Camping Tent = 39000 search count

Folding Chair = 17000 search count

In this table now folding chairs are the ‘bad’ low demand product and Camping Tents are the high. You could do this all day long; playing king of the mountain looking for the products that have the highest demand count and thinking that all of the products with lesser numbers are not good products to sell.

This kind of thinking trips people up all the time. They get in a rut with their research constantly looking for that product with biggest numbers and ignoring all others. It becomes an endless cycle that becomes both confusing and very frustrating.”Demand” numbers are relative.

Remember: Dont dismiss product ideas based solely on low search counts. Compared to most common mainstream products Niche Products will show a “Low Demand”. because Niche Products appeal to a very targeted group of consumers!
